Each feeder is designed so that rain cannot get into the seed holding area and there are small holes in the bottom for drainage to prevent the seeds from getting wet. No maintenance is required and your feeder can be left outside and admired all year round.  All our products are sent unrusted but will rust with time when left outside. To speed up the rusting process we recommend spraying your product with salt water and it will rust within days.
